This journey is not just about music; it’s a story of passion, perseverance, and a dream fulfilled. We dive deep into DJ Roop’s incredible journey, from his humble beginnings to becoming a sensation in the Indian music scene and now reaching the pinnacle of global recognition at Tomorrowland Belgium.

The Beginning

Q: DJ Roop, how did your journey in the world of music begin?

A: It all started in 2014 when I embarked on my DJing career. After performing across India and teaching DJ classes at the Tomorrowland Foundation Music & Arts School in Kolkata, the dream of performing at Tomorrowland Belgium took root.

The Tomorrowland Connection

Q: Can you share the story of how Tomorrowland became a part of your journey?

A: The journey with Tomorrowland began when I reached out to be a part of their Kolkata initiative. Despite initial setbacks, my persistence paid off, and my involvement with the Tomorrowland Foundation Music & Arts School started in January 2023. The connection grew, and my performance at Tomorrowland Belgium 2024 was born out of a series of events, including a surprise visit from DJ Makasi and a personal touch with the Tomorrowland team.

The Turning Point

Q: When did you realize that Tomorrowland Belgium was on the horizon?

A: The turning point came on December 26, 2023. While working at my office, a text from a Tomorrowland employee changed everything. They wanted me to perform at Tomorrowland Belgium 2024 on July 27 at the RISE Stage for Yves V presents V Sessions. It was a surreal moment that turned my sadness into pure joy.

The Journey Unveiled

Q: Could you walk us through the process leading to your performance at Tomorrowland Belgium?

A: The journey involved constant communication with the Tomorrowland team, monitoring my performances, and understanding my dedication to music. The confirmation came in January 2024, solidifying my travel and performance plans. It’s not just about me; it’s about representing India on a global stage.

A Personal Touch

Q: How do you plan to make your performance unique at Tomorrowland Belgium?

A: Representing India, I plan to wear something reflecting my culture. The music will bridge the gap with English vocals but infused with Indian and ethnic essence in the instruments. It’s not just about being another DJ; it’s about taking Indian music to the world.

The Man Behind DJ Roop

Q: Beyond DJ Roop, who is Kaushik Das in his daily life?

A: In my daily life, I’m a full-time Software Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services, pursuing an M.Tech Degree from Jadavpur University. I am also the DJing faculty at the Tomorrowland Foundation Music & Arts School. My journey is shaped by my passion for music, and I’ve been honored to judge DJ Wars at top institutes and perform alongside musical legends.

Acknowledging the Roots

Q: Could you tell us about your training, especially your association with PartyMap DJ Academy?

A: PartyMap DJ Academy has been my training force. I was offered a 100% scholarship from PartyMap, India’s No. #1 DJ Academy. I underwent the DJing & Music Production certification course under the guidance of DJ Akhil Talreja, further shaping my skills and paving the way for my journey in the world of music.
