- What inspired you to write this book, and how does it address key challenges in today’s world?
My inspiration comes from my experiences as a member of the Indian Cancer Society and a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society. After witnessing my daughter’s full recovery in Canada, I felt compelled to work in various hospitals, both paid and unpaid. I was particularly impressed by the dedicated doctors at Tata Hospital in Mumbai. Through reading many self-help books and navigating my own life challenges, I began taking notes that eventually formed the framework for my book. The world is currently in chaos, and I aim to help people find balance amidst instant gratification, self-centeredness, failing relationships, and online obsessions by providing practical tips from my personal experiences.
- What specific expertise or experiences do you bring to the subject matter?
I draw from my extensive volunteering experience with cancer organizations and my personal journey through challenges. My interactions with healthcare professionals and my own life experiences inform the advice I share in the book.
- What valuable insights or takeaways can readers expect from your book?
Readers can expect a wealth of practical tips to help them navigate the chaos of modern life. My book offers insights into balancing various aspects of life while promoting self-care and personal growth.
- Can you highlight any case studies or real-world examples from your book?
One significant influence on my journey is Dr. Rima Hooja, also known as the “Cat Lady of Jaipur.” A friend and an accomplished author in her own right, she was inspired to improve her health after reading my chapter titled “Look Good, Feel Good.” This demonstrates how my work can encourage others, particularly those of us over 60, to prioritize our health through exercise and proper nutrition.
- What challenges or obstacles did you encounter while writing this book, and how did you overcome them?
A major obstacle I faced was my difficulty with typing quickly. Although I managed to type the last chapter myself, I needed assistance for the majority of the book. After searching through various markets and club libraries, I found a wonderful woman named Anu, who is studying law, to help me type most of the chapters.
- What do you hope readers will gain from reading your book, and how do you envision it making a positive impact on their lives?
I hope readers will feel inspired to step out of their comfort zones and elevate their lives. My book encourages creativity and self-expression, urging individuals to write, sing, dance, paint, study, run, work out, sew, or engage in whatever makes them feel good about themselves.
- In a rapidly changing environment, how does your book remain relevant and adaptable for readers over time?
Given the current pace of change and the chaos in the world, the themes of my book are designed to be timeless. I address the challenges of modern life and provide strategies for maintaining balance and well-being, making it relevant regardless of the evolving landscape.
