Sohna Land Dispute: Alleged Police Collusion with Land Mafia Harasses Citizens

Sohna, Haryana: A shocking case of alleged police collusion with land mafia has surfaced in Sohna’s Tolni village, where citizens claim they are being harassed and falsely implicated in legal cases. According to a video statement by Himanshu Gupta and his wife, Bhavna Gupta, on February 8, 2025, at around midnight, police forcibly entered their home without a warrant, searched their premises, and seized their mobile phones. Bhavna further alleged that police officers verbally abused and mistreated her, while Himanshu accused ASI Shyam Lal and other officers of being intoxicated and using violence.

The Root of the Dispute

This conflict stems from a land sale involving builder Anurag Malhotra, Amit Banga, and their firm NUMIT Farms LLP. In 2020-21, directors of Goldkist Developers Pvt. Ltd.—Brahm Prakash (72), Raj Bala (58), and Balwan Singh (65)—sold over 8 acres of agricultural land to Malhotra and Banga. The sale was explicitly for agricultural purposes, as documented in official registration records.

The situation escalated after the Haryana government introduced its farmhouse policy in September 2021. This policy allowed farmhouses on government roads, prompting the buyers to demand free land transfers either to them or the government. When the sellers refused, they were subjected to legal action, leading to police intimidation and false allegations against them. The matter is currently pending in court.

Police Intimidation and Unjust Actions

February 6, 2025: Senior citizen Balwan Singh was arrested despite already having bail. The police allegedly added new charges to escalate the case. His whereabouts remain unknown, with authorities only claiming he is in a hospital but refusing to disclose its name.

February 8, 2025: In a midnight raid, police stormed the house of Rajesh, assaulted his son Himanshu, and vandalized their home, despite Rajesh having no direct involvement in the dispute. Victims claim police, acting under the buyers’ influence, are targeting them unjustly.

The affected families allege that police are treating them like criminals while protecting Anurag Malhotra. They report continuous harassment, physical abuse, and fear for their safety.

Court Case Ignored, Victims Demand Fair Investigation

Despite the matter already being in court, the police continue their coercive actions, leading victims to believe that authorities are operating under political or financial influence. The victims demand an independent investigation by a neutral agency to ensure justice and safeguard their rights.
