Book Synopsis: Within the riveting pages of “Stay Away,” two narratives intertwine, illuminating the struggles of today’s youth as they navigate the complex domains of desire, avarice, and intricate relationships. In the initial account, the narrator becomes entwined in the life of a young man ensnared within the perilous realm of gigolos. As the narrative unfolds, the ramifications of distorted perspectives surface. Lust and greed warp his perceptions, ensnaring him in a treacherous trajectory. With each step into the abyss, the young man’s mental equilibrium falters, muddling his sense of right and wrong. Ultimately, he confronts the repercussions of his past choices, which have fractured his marital bond and inflicted him with a life-threatening ailment. The second story delves into the intricacies of contemporary relationships, where characters are ensnared in unfulfilling connections. As the story unfolds, layers of entanglement are peeled away, laying bare raw emotions and an ardent quest for fulfillment. The narrator grapples with profound inquiries, probing culpability and the potential for emancipation from these twisted relationships. “Stay Away” is a contemplative odyssey into the disquieting realities of modern society.

1. Can you provide an overview of your book?

My book is a work of fiction comprising two short stories in English and ten brief Hindi poems. The first story explores a character driven by lust and enticed by both material wealth and women. It revolves around the central figures, Ranjit and his wife Shalu. The second story is a blend of romance intertwined with miscommunication, mistrust, and betrayal. It centers on three friends whose harmony and peace are disrupted by the entry of a fourth individual.

2. Was there a specific catalyst for these narratives or did the idea manifest unexpectedly?

The surge in lustful relationships that burgeons daily acted as an impetus, even a compulsion, for me to write about this topic.

3. What motivated your venture into writing?

I believe that humans are inherently aware of moral right and wrong, yet at times, require reminders. Different individuals harbor their own notions of morality, and they are free to choose accordingly. However, if something is universally deemed socially wrong, it merits discussion. My writing endeavors to foster dialogue about the taboos associated with male prostitution.

4. How did you perceive your initial draft upon reviewing it?

After finalizing my first draft, I recognized that the content might appear concise. While it could have been extended, I adhere to concise presentations, and thus retained it as is.

5. Which segment of your narrative resonates most personally? Why?

In the first story, it is Shalu’s response upon learning of her illness. Despite her doubts about her husband, she endeavors to persuade him that she isn’t responsible for his ailment. Her innocence and naivety evoke profound empathy.

6. What attributes make your book distinctive and compelling?

My book’s uniqueness stems from its exploration of a rarely discussed theme—the world of male prostitution—in the context of our rapidly evolving society.

7. Could you share the most impactful counsel you received during the writing process?

While concluding my story, I initially sought to guide readers by explaining what they should take away from it. A well-wisher, Ms. Smita, aptly advised against this, emphasizing that readers, being educated, should be presented with the narrative’s facts and allowed to form their own conclusions.

8. Do you have a favorite author whose work has deeply influenced you?If so, which of their works captured your admiration?

Sydney Sheldon’s “The Silent Widow” and Chetan Bhagat’s “One Arranged Murder” hold my perpetual appreciation.

9. What enduring advice do you offer to fellow writers?

Maintain fidelity within your relationships. Greed is insatiable, whether for wealth or physical gratification.

10. Which scene posed the greatest challenge in terms of writing?

Notably, there wasn’t a particular scene of significant challenge.

11. Do you have another storyline in the works?

Yes, I am currently developing another narrative adhering to the framework of two stories and ten poems.
