Patna, March 11: In recent months, the increased vigilance of the Special Task Force (STF) has helped curb criminal activities. Over the past three months, from December 2024 to February 2025, criminals and gangs involved in serious crimes such as murder, robbery, and dacoity were apprehended before they could execute their plans.
This proactive action successfully prevented these criminal activities. Among them, STF was particularly effective in thwarting planned murders through its alertness and swift action. In these three months, STF successfully foiled 11 murder attempts in time, preventing these crimes before they could take place.
According to data from the Police Headquarters, STF successfully prevented four criminal incidents in December 2024, including two murder cases and two cases related to robbery or dacoity. Similarly, in January 2025, three murder attempts and two robbery or dacoity attempts were foiled. In February, STF thwarted six planned murders and two robbery or dacoity cases. In total, more than 16 criminal incidents were stopped before execution.
STF’s success is attributed to intelligence gathering, public cooperation, and advanced technological analysis, which helped in identifying and apprehending notorious criminals and gang members. A dedicated STF team continuously monitors active criminals and gang members involved in criminal activities. After a crime is reported, the team conducts a thorough analysis of multiple related factors to gather detailed information about the suspects.
Major Crimes Prevented
• December 4: Pankaj Rai, listed among Patna’s top 10 criminals, was arrested in Digha with illegal weapons. At the time of his arrest, he was planning the murder of Deepak Rai, an active member of the Billa gang, along with other criminals.
• December 12: Notorious inter-state criminal Ajay Paswan, who had a bounty on his head, was arrested with illegal weapons from Pindra under the Hunterganj police station in Chatra, Jharkhand. He was planning a bank dacoity with his gang.
• Subodh Mahto, one of Muzaffarpur’s top 10 criminals, was arrested from Khalilpur in the Karja police station area. He was plotting the murder of Hemant Rai, a resident of the same area.
• January 8, 2025: Prakash Kumar was arrested in Gaya along with two accomplices while planning to rob a jewelry shop.
• February 7: Shubham Kumar and his associates were arrested in Mokama, Patna. His mobile phone was put under surveillance, which helped in capturing the entire gang. They were planning to murder two individuals on motorcycles.
• February 17: Notorious criminals Shalu alias Fracture, Chand, Abhishek, and Bunty Khan were arrested in Sonar Toli, Patna. They were planning a major robbery in the Patna City area. These criminals had previously terrorized the region by firing gunshots to extort money.
