Mumbai:Salman Khan has played just about every shade of Prem on screen, so when Veer Pahariya arrived on Bigg Boss 20 with a film called Prem Keetanu, the superstar naturally had a few thoughts. While interacting with Veer and his leading lady Aafiya Sayed, Salman looked back at his long association with the name, from Prem Rog to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, before admitting that the idea of Prem Keetanu was rather funny.
The title itself became the punchline. Salman joked that after having explored so many versions of Prem, the new film seemed to have gone right down to the root of what causes Prem Rog – a “keetanu”. The more Salman unpacked the name, the more amused the exchange became, leaving Veer and Aafiya to play along with the joke.
There was an even cheekier thought behind Salman’s ribbing: if the title Prem Keetanu is this funny, perhaps the film itself must be just as entertaining. And given that the film is a youthful romantic comedy built around love, heartbreak, friendship and the messy business of growing up, Veer could hardly argue.
For Veer, having Salman – Bollywood’s most recognisable Prem – dissect the title of his film was quite the promotional bonus. After all, when the OG Prem approves of the name enough to make a joke out of it, you might as well let the laughter become part of the promotions.
