Discover the Heartfelt Journey of Love and Resilience in ‘In the Heart’s Garden’ by Ruchi Sirohi Dahiya

  1. Could you give a brief synopsis of your book and the main issues it tackles in the modern world?

This book is an experience, my journey as a mother, from the time that I became a mother till when my sons became teenagers. I wanted to share my experiences in a humorous way, and in this world when parents, especially women, get stressed about their jobs, kids, family, friends, and a million other things, I hope this book can bring some insight to how one should enjoy every phase of life, rather than worrying too much about it.

  1. What specifically prompted you to write this book? What particular knowledge or experiences do you bring to the topic?

My flare for writing short poems, small rhymes, and especially seeing the lighter side of things, experiences, inspired me to write this book. The entire book is about experiences of a girl losing her father soon after her marriage, how her partner proved to be a pillar, providing a solid ground for her to stand and rise high, how her sons shared and contributed to her successes and how alone she runs a private limited company, now completing 10 years.

  1. Could you outline some of the most important lessons or revelations that readers should anticipate from your book?

My book focuses on a woman multitasking, managing her family, job, friends, and society. But there are times when one needs to make difficult choices, set priorities and accept that she cannot give a 100% to everything. Instead, try to focus on the most important thing at that moment of time, have confidence in yourself, have faith in the one above, have trust in your support system, do not hesitate to ask for help, and slowly all pieces of the puzzle start falling in place.

  1. Could you provide specific case studies or real-world examples from your book that exemplify the concepts you cover?

There are several instances, one of which was my decision to take a 4 year long sabbatical from work and take care of my sons. We had newly bought a home, its loan installments started, 2 small kids, only one earning member, and a whole load of other responsibilities. But we managed through those tough times together as a team. There were struggles but we didn’t give up and kept telling ourselves, this is just a phase, this too shall pass. And yes, it did.

  1. Are there any particular challenges or obstacles you encountered while writing this book, and how did you overcome them?

There were sometimes when the case-study or an event was too emotional or serious, how do you put humor into it? But then there are parts of the book which wake you up to realities of life, things which are not in our hands, the cosmic universe is at its play…all you can do is stay strong and hang in there.

  1. What do you think readers will get out of your work, and how do you think it will improve their lives?

I hope that young mothers and mothers-to-be realize the fun journey of motherhood and don’t stress too much about being a parent. There is a lot of discipline and scheduling required in parenthood, which I feel the parents today are losing hold of. But these values, our rich Indian culture, our religions are what makes us different from the world, and I hope parents instill these values in their kids today, as we did. Also, for all the women out there who feel they have to make “sacrifices” like leaving their job or not having a child in the peak of their career, REMEMBER these are choices, every decision has their pros and cons. Calling these decisions or choices a “Sacrifice”, you have already given up on hope to do better in a field.

  1. In a world that is changing quickly, how does your book continue to be relevant and flexible for readers throughout time?

The values of motherhood, the joy of the journey, the bonding between a husband and wife, sons and mother, and all other relations remain the same through time. The world changes around us but these bonds seldom do.
