Chirag Paswan Receives Death Threat : Union Minister Chirag Paswan has received an anonymous communication containing a direct threat to his life, prompting his office to seek an urgent investigation and a review of his security arrangements.
The threatening note was reportedly received by post on September 1. It warned that Paswan would soon be killed by “hardcore terrorists”. Authorities have not yet publicly established who sent the communication or whether the threat is linked to any individual or organisation.
Paswan currently serves as the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries and heads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
Anonymous Communication Contained Two Mobile Numbers
According to reports, the unsigned communication contained two mobile phone numbers along with the threatening message.
After the note was received, Paswan’s office treated the matter as a serious security concern. His Additional Private Secretary, Alok Kumar Singh, wrote to the Union Home Secretary seeking immediate attention.
The original communication was also reportedly forwarded to the authorities so that its origin and authenticity could be examined.
At this stage, details about where the note was sent from and the identity of the person behind it have not been made public.
Paswan Already Has Z-Category Security
The threat has drawn additional attention because Chirag Paswan is already protected under Z-category security provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In the communication sent to the Home Secretary, Paswan’s office highlighted the direct nature of the threat and requested that the matter be treated with urgency.
His office has asked authorities to investigate not only who sent the note but also the circumstances surrounding it and whether the threat represents a genuine security risk.
A review of Paswan’s existing security arrangements has also been requested. If security agencies consider it necessary, his protection could be strengthened in view of the reported threat and his upcoming public engagements.
Security Agencies Expected to Examine the Threat
Investigators are expected to examine the available evidence connected with the communication, including the two mobile numbers mentioned in the note.
A key part of the investigation will be determining whether those numbers can help establish the identity or location of the sender.
Authorities will also have to assess whether the language used in the communication points towards a credible threat or was intended primarily to create fear.
No organisation has publicly been linked to the threat so far, according to the information currently available.
Chirag Paswan Faced Another Threat in 2025
This is not the first time Paswan has reportedly received a threat to his life.
In July 2025, he was allegedly threatened through social media after his party announced its decision regarding contesting the Bihar Assembly elections.
That threat was reportedly posted through an Instagram account. Following the incident, a representative of the LJP (Ram Vilas) approached the cyber police in Patna and a complaint was filed.
The latest incident is different because the threatening communication was reportedly delivered by post rather than through a social media platform.
Investigation Into Sender and Authenticity Awaited
For now, several important questions remain unanswered.
Authorities have yet to publicly identify the sender, establish where the communication originated or determine whether there is any wider organisation behind it.
Paswan’s office has asked the Home Ministry to give the matter urgent priority and conduct a thorough investigation. It has also sought an assessment of whether the Union Minister’s current security cover needs to be strengthened.
Until that investigation progresses, the origin and credibility of the threat remain unverified.
The incident has nevertheless raised serious security concerns because of the direct language used in the note and Paswan’s position as a Union Minister and political party leader.
