Pune, August 2025 — Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with A-Star Academy to introduce a new model of hospitality education in India. The agreement was formalized at SPPU’s main building in the presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi. Mr. Romie Dutt, Executive Director of Aamby Valley City and Hotel Sahara Star, signed on behalf of A-Star Academy.
The partnership will roll out degree, diploma, and certificate courses in hospitality, starting with a three-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Hospitality Studies. SPPU will act as the awarding body, while A-Star Academy will deliver the programs with a strong focus on experiential learning.
A-Star Academy, an initiative by Aamby Valley City and Hotel Sahara Star, positions itself as India’s only hotel school “of the industry, by the industry, for the industry.” Its unique pedagogy immerses students in real-world hospitality environments from day one. The curriculum, curated and taught by practicing hotel professionals, blends academic knowledge with hands-on operational training, ensuring global relevance and career readiness.
The Academy operates through two distinctive campuses: a 1 million sq. ft. five-star property in Mumbai for day-scholars, and a 10,000-acre residential campus in Lonavala, featuring cafés, restaurants, and boutique hotels for practical training.
Both SPPU and A-Star Academy expressed confidence that this collaboration will raise the standard of hospitality education in India, creating graduates who are not only academically qualified but also industry-ready.
