Keerthy Suresh Reveals Challenges of Playing Bhavani

Keerthy Suresh has opened up about the preparation and challenges involved in portraying Bhavani in Akka, an upcoming gangster series featuring Radhika Apte in a key role. From physical training and learning Hindi to participating in detailed script-reading sessions, the project introduced the actor to several new aspects of filmmaking.

The actor shared these insights during the trailer launch of Akka, which was attended by members of the cast and crew. Keerthy discussed how preparing for her first Hindi project required her to step outside her usual working methods and embrace new techniques.

Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty and produced by YRF Entertainment, Akka is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 30, according to the announcement shared at the event.

Keerthy Suresh Talks About Preparing for Bhavani in Akka

Keerthy Suresh said her preparation for Akka began well before filming, with script readings playing an important role in understanding the story and her character.

The actor explained that the process was relatively new to her because she had not experienced script-reading sessions in the same way during many of her previous projects in the South Indian film industry.

She said she enjoyed the experience and appreciated the opportunity to explore a more detailed approach to preparing for a role.

During the conversation, Keerthy also recalled meeting veteran actor Nassar at a hotel while attending a script-reading session. When he asked why she was there, she explained that she was preparing for a show and participating in the reading process.

According to Keerthy, Nassar remarked that script reading was an important part of the filmmaking process that was not always followed consistently.

The interaction reinforced her appreciation for the preparation involved in Akka and the opportunity to learn new methods of working.

Learning Hindi Was One of Keerthy Suresh’s Biggest Challenges

Language was another important aspect of Keerthy’s preparation for Akka. Since this is her first Hindi project, adapting to the dialogue delivery and the particular style of Hindi used in the series required additional effort.

The actor explained that the dialogue style differed from what she was accustomed to, making language preparation an important part of building her character.

Alongside rehearsing her lines, Keerthy underwent physical training to prepare for the demands of the gangster drama.

When asked whether the action sequences or learning Hindi had been more challenging, she responded that both presented their own difficulties.

Keerthy described the experience as an opportunity to learn new skills while also unlearning certain habits developed through her previous work.

Her comments highlight the preparation required to portray a character convincingly when the role involves unfamiliar language demands and physical performance.

Radhika Apte on Playing Rudra in Akka

Radhika Apte, who plays Rudra, the antagonist in Akka, also discussed the work that went into preparing for her character.

The actor revealed that workshops and rehearsals formed part of the preparation process, while Hindi was another important area of focus.

Radhika explained that the series was different from many of her earlier projects, particularly because of its dramatic presentation and large-scale production.

Known for her work in independent and realistic cinema, she said stepping into a stylised gangster drama required a different approach to performance.

She spoke about the importance of pauses, expressions and looks in shaping Rudra’s personality and establishing the character’s rhythm on screen.

Radhika also acknowledged that embodying such a character was challenging because the role demanded a performance style she had not previously imagined herself taking on.

Her comments suggest that Akka offered both lead performers an opportunity to explore unfamiliar territory in their acting careers.
