Jio IPO Subscribed More Than Three Times on Day One, Sets New Records Across Investor Categories

Mumbai:The Jio IPO was subscribed more than three times on its first day, surpassing the previous record for first-day subscription of 1.04 times.

Strong demand from institutional investors was also evident before the issue opened. Following demand exceeding ₹2.5 lakh crore, anchor shares worth ₹8,110 crore were allocated to 212 investor accounts and schemes. This indicated significant enthusiasm for Jio Platforms among large investors even before the IPO opened for subscription.

Retail Investors Set a New Record

Retail investor participation in Jio’s IPO also established a new milestone. The retail category received more than one crore applications, reportedly the highest figure recorded so far.In addition, more than 21 lakh applications came from existing shareholders of Reliance Industries. This reflected investors’ interest in gaining direct exposure to the company’s telecommunications and digital services business.

Record Applications in Both HNI Investor Categories

Jio’s IPO also set new records in the high-net-worth individual (HNI) investor category. The small HNI category received more than 5.75 lakh applications, surpassing the previous record of 4,99,825 applications. Meanwhile, the large HNI category attracted more than 3.5 lakh applications. The previous record in this category stood at 2,71,403 applications. These figures highlight the strong support the IPO received not only from large investors but also from relatively smaller high-net-worth investors.

Employee Category Also Records Strong Participation

The employee reservation category in Jio’s IPO received more than two lakh applications, setting another participation record.

The share allotment process for the IPO is expected to be completed on October 26. Subsequently, Jio Platforms’ shares may be listed on the BSE and NSE on October 28.

The record demand for Jio’s IPO reflects growing investor participation in India’s capital markets and increasing interest in the country’s digital and telecommunications sectors. However, the stock’s performance after listing will depend on market conditions and investor demand.
