Mumbai:October is shaping up to be one of the busiest months at the movies, with there being something for everyone whether it be long-awaited franchise releases ot swoon worthy romances and gripping action. From the return of Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 3 and Himesh Reshammiya’s latest romantic drama to Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s Udta Teer and large-scale Street Fighter, there’s plenty competing for your weekend plans. Here’s everything coming to theatres this October.
Prem Keetanu
Prem Keetanu brings Veer Pahariya and Aparshakti Khurana together for a youthful story centred on college life. The film also stars Aafiya Sayed, Rakesh Bedi and Nikhil Vijay, with Apoorv Singh Karki directing. The story follows a group of college boys as they navigate the unpredictability of young adulthood, with friendship and romance forming the heart of the narrative. Co-presented by Phars Films, the film comes from producer Gaurav Verma’s new banner, Avanika Films, and marks its first theatrical release.With its young ensemble and college setting, Prem Keetanu is set to bring a fresh coming-of-age energy to the October line-up. The film releases on 2nd October .
Drishyam 3
Ajay Devgn is returning as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 3, bringing one of Hindi cinema’s most closely watched thriller franchises back to theatres. Shriya Saran and Tabu are also returning, reprising their respective roles from the earlier films. While details of the new story are being kept under wraps, the third chapter will continue Vijay’s increasingly complicated attempt to protect his family. The film is slated to release on 2nd October.
Tum Mere Ho
The season of love is set to begin as Isha Malviya gears up to make her big-screen debut opposite Gurmeet Choudhary in Tum Mere Ho. Depicting the intensity of love on the big screens, Tum Mere Ho is directed by Aashish Panda, produced by Reva Creative House and DebGuru Films with music by Saregama official and distribution handled by PVR Pictures. The film is produced by Aarti S, Debina Bonnerjee, and co-produced by Romanch Mehta and Aman Riyastee. Written by Niranjan Iyengar and Purva Naresh, the film unites musical brilliance through its composers, Mithoon, Sanju Rathod, Vivek Verma, Krish and Uddipan Sharma. Love makes a splash in theatres on October 23.
Janam Terii Kasam
Romance takes centre stage in Janam Teri Kasam which has been billed as the “saddest love story ever.” With music playing an integral role this romantic drama comes from Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. It leans hard into music-driven storytelling around love, longing separation and emotional endurance. The movie releases on 2nd October.
Udta Teer
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan are teaming up for Udta Teer, a spy comedy directed by Akash A Kaushik.The film marks Kaushik’s directorial debut and is produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. While much of the film is under wraps it promises “humour, chaos and an entertaining family-friendly narrative.” The film releases on 9th October.
*Street Fighter*
Street Fighter is bringing its iconic video-game universe back to the big screen, with Vidyut Jammwal, Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo and 50 Cent among the names attached to the new live-action adaptation.Set around the World Warrior Tournament, the film brings some of the franchise’s most recognisable characters into a new cinematic story. Vidyut Jammwal plays Dhalsim, while Jason Momoa takes on Blanka, Noah Centineo stars as Ken Masters and 50 Cent appears as Balrog. The film releases on 16th October.
Raftaar
Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh headline Raftaar, a drama that takes its story into the world of entrepreneurship and education. The film follows a teacher whose life takes a new direction after becoming involved in a start-up venture. As the business grows, the characters find themselves dealing with the personal consequences that can come with ambition and success. The film is scheduled to release on 16th October.
*OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood*
Dhanush and Mammootty headline OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, an action drama directed by Rajkumar Periasamy.The film follows a man who sets out to help 20 Tamil woodcutters who have been arrested by the police in a forest, drawing from a tense situation involving the workers and their fight for justice.Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela are also part of the cast, while Naseeruddin Shah appears in a supporting role. The film is being released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, giving the story a pan-Indian theatrical release. The film releases on 16th October
